When UK-based Geckota opened seven years ago they were all about replacement watch straps, but soon added actual watches to the lineup. Since then, they have designed several of their own brand Pilot and Diver watches, and now they releasing their first racing-inspired watch, the Geckota C-1 Racing Chronograph ($365).
Based on the Heuer Chronographen hand-wound Camaro, the “C” in Geckota’s new watch pays homage to that and also the 50th Anniversary of the release of Chevrolet’s Camaro automobile. As with the other Geckota watches, the C-1 Racing Chronograph uses a solid Seiko VK64 MecaQuartz hybrid movement. The hands and hour markers have SuperLuminova applied for nighttime viewing. The case has a flat, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, a dual gasket, and is water resistant down to 300 feet. It is powered by a SR936SW battery that provides a full three year lifespan.
The Geckota C-1 Racing Chronograph comes with two extra straps (three total) for your styling pleasure and a full 12 month guarantee. The dial will come in three versions; a black-charcoal, white-grey, or brown-black dial. With a very reasonable price tag, the Geckota C-1 should be within reach of even moderately frugal budgets.
