Since January of 2021, we’ve been closely following the exploits of a certain Japanese streetwear brand. As part of this year’s ventures, it has been collaborating with several big-name groups. There’s Beats by Dre for the Powerbeats Pro, Freshthings for a premium titanium yoyo. It then took things up a notch with the X47FRGMT by Azimut Yachts and Yanmar. Its latest is the Fragment Design x Nike “Beijing” Dunk Highs.
Founded by the celebrated streetwear designer Hiroshi Fujiwara, Fragment Design occasionally partners with other companies to craft exclusive releases. The “Beijing” Dunk Highs are actually a unique reissue, which is great news for those eager to cop one.
Sneakerheads would not want to miss out on this limited-edition pair of kicks. If you were expecting the 2021 reprint to retain the mismatched design of the original, it’s not. Collectors who own the 2010 variant can thank Fragment Design for this move.
On the other hand, people who rather have matching footwear will love what it brings to the table. The leather upper is primarily in a deep metallic purple with overlays in black. The colors of the stitching also match for a more cohesive visual. The iconic swoosh logos wrap around the heel and end at the midfoot section of the upper.
Meanwhile, the Nike branding is on the insoles and tongue tags. Fragment Design’s double lightning bolt badges adorn the lateral surfaces of the heels. Also, the white midsoles sport the development style numbers. The profile of the Nike Dunk High “Beijing” then ends with black outsoles.
