BMW recently unveiled the iVision Future Interaction Concept ($TBA), an interesting vehicle that exhibits sharp, sexy lines, and packs next-generation display technology.
Based on the hybrid BMW i8 Spyder Concept, the iVision has a dramatic body finished in a sleek orange & black panit job. The car ditches the traditional mirrors, using instead rearview cameras which add benefits in therms of safety, but also contribute to reducing drag coefficient and wind noise. The innovation continues inside, where you’ll find a 3-D displaying instrument cluster in front of the driver, providing speed info and more, but also alerting you in case there are any obstacles farther up the road that aren’t in the field of view.
A massive 21 inch (in diagonal) monitor sits in the middle of the dashboard, is controlled entirely by motioned gestures, and connects automatically with the driver’s smartphone or smartwatch, while also providing access to the Internet. The iVision Concept offers three drive modes: Pure Drive (driving yourself), Assist and Auto Mode, so you have to option to just relax and let the car do the work. Too bad you can’t enjoy a cold beer at the same time.
