With a forty-year experience of customizing bikes (he started when he was 12 years old), Australian native Craig Rodsmith is a true master builder. One look at his brilliant Moto Guzzi V9 Cafe Racer will immediately put any motorcycle aficionado in a state of awe.
Commissioned by Moto Guzzi as part of their V9 Pro Build series, the bike is based on a 2017 V9 Roamer. Right off the bat, Rodsmith stripped the whole thing down and removed the factory black powder coating to reveal the perfect castings. Then he hand-fabricated (using mostly traditional methods & tools) the sleek tank, stainless steel exhaust, aluminum intake plenum, seat, and side covers.
The V9 frame received a powder coating treatment in anodized red, electronics and wiring have been tucked away, and an array of new parts were added, including the 50mm Marzocchi inverted front forks, Supershox rear springs, and aluminum Excel rims with Pirelli Diablo Corsa tires.
Finished with aluminum and leather grips from Speed of Cheese Racing and a beautiful JB Seatz leather seat, this amazing build retains modern bits such as ABS, traction control, fuel injection, and more, while staying true to the early 70s V7 Guzzi Sport original cafe racer look. Watch the whole build documented in the video below – Craig’s typical Aussie foul-mouth makes it crazy entertaining!
