Inspired by the classic 1947 Sea Maid Wooden Ski Boat, French industrial engineer Dimitri Bez has created a concept by blending timeless design with modern technology. His Zebra Wooden Boat ($NA) begins with construction from traditional materials such as wood, leather, & chrome.

The wooden slats that cover the bias are laid in an alternating diagonal pattern (hence the name) that continues in the bright orange seats & cushions to unify the transition from hard to soft surfaces. Chrome trim throughout finishes the sleek aesthetic.

Sitting beside the steering wheel and retro controls on the dashboard is a curved touchscreen that serves as both navigational support and a video entertainment monitor. We further hear that the watercraft can hold up to 10 people and is powered by a ‘powerful’ electric motor. While not slated for production at this time, the Zebra Boat is a fine example of how old and new can come together to create striking, beautiful art – the kind you can take for a sprint.
