Volkswagen has been eying its uber popular California camper van with the thought of creating a supersized version. Just introduced at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon, the Volkswagen California XXL Camper Van Concept ($NA) has shown off an astounding amount of space-enhancing slide-out features, especially the slide-out wet bath.
The XXL has a 143″ (3.64m) Crafter wheelbase and a very high 7.2′ (2.2m) fixed panoramic roof. Underfloor heating provides year-round comfort and six USB ports and nine 220V outlets provide power for appliances and devices. The full-featured kitchen also has new innovations including a dual 50L refrigerator under the stove and a second 50L refrigerator/freezer over the kitchen block. The table can be removed & fastened to the outside of the van for open-air enjoyment.
The VW California XXL has a 175 hp turbo-diesel engine under the hood and 4-Matic all-wheel drive with a custom air suspension system to get you where you want to camp. Here is one mobile home-away-from-home that will hopefully be granted production status. [via]
