American fashion designer Virgil Abloh is relentless when it comes to identifying the boundaries of design and transcending it, so this surprising new collaboration with French winery Moët & Chandon is right up his alley.
Together, Abloh and Moët & Chandon have created a new limited edition bottle of Moët Nectar Impérial Rosé. Two Virgil Abloh rosé variants will be made available: a limited-edition 3L jeroboam style and a 750mL “ready-to-wear” style. “Do Not Drop” appears on the side in the brand’s signature typeface, and both bottles arrive in a pristine white box that says “For Display Only,” indicating that this release will have a very small stock, so act fast if you want it.
Of the collaboration, Abloh, Louis Vuitton’s artistic director for men’s wear, says:
“For me, whenever I collaborate, I have an affinity for working with the best to possibly collab with. I would consider the product they make to be this status symbol or epitome of the best. So my signature phrases applied onto the bottle sort of create a dialogue.”
The idea, according to him, was to deconstruct the concept of conventional bottles as much as possible and make it clear in such a way that “the final design makes it have a different personality than others that it might sit next to.”
The Virgil Abloh rosé bottles are available now. The price of the 3L bottle is still uncertain, but the 750mL option will retail for $60 at select outlets. The former will allegedly be exclusive for friends and family. So if you don’t know Abloh personally, don’t count on getting one.
