Here’s a special three-way collaboration for you. Timex, Japanese streetwear brand NEIGHBORHOOD, and global clothing retailer END bring you the military- and diver-inspired 18004. It’s a more polished variant of the watchmaker’s highly acclaimed NAVI.
Timex has had incredible success with style co-conspirators in the past, so this new hitch job bodes well for all parties involved. Remember the watchmaker’s Marlin releases? Plus its latest collabs with Todd Snyder? These are just some of the people and labels Timex has gotten its hands dirty with. As such, expect the same level of finesse and sophistication, if not more, from the company’s new experiment with NEIGHBORHOOD and END.
Now, more on the 18004. This stainless steel-wielding 38mm timepiece features a 18mm lug width and a black dial with vintage-style lume. You’ll also find a rotating diver bezel, a quick-set date window, a screw-down crown, and mineral crystal. You don’t have to take it off when washing your hands or swimming. The watch is water resistant up to 100m. On the wristrap side, you get a double-layer one-piece fabric.
Those tiny elements may not seem much for a modern watch. However, this is a case where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. While these things come standard on typical luxury watches you see on the market, the three companies really went out their way to make sure these disparate qualities coalesce into something that’s very reminiscent of vintage military and diver watches of years past.
Do note, however, that this features a quartz movement, so in effect, you’re getting a classic look for a fraction of the price. Available now for $149.
