It stands to reason that an artist would want a home that expressed itself in an artistic manner. Canadian sculptor Jacek Jarnuszkiewicz collaborated with yh2 architecture to create such a home for her in East Bolton, Canada.
Surrounded by a Chiaroscuro coniferous forest on an overhang looking out across Lake Trousers, the dwelling takes on the aspect of its surroundings by rising up three stories with the trees. It is a very open structure with a natural fluidity between the open floor of the forest and the open first floor of the house.
Along with extensive floor to ceiling glazing, the exterior views become a natural decoration for the interior spaces. The third floor opens out onto a mezzanine deck with a large covered terrace that provides an observation tower to the wildlife that abounds around the lake and the mountains in the distance.
