Part of Clint Eastwood’s Carmel development, the Tehama 1 House off the coast of California, is a charming retreat where the indoor and outdoor spaces flow seamlessly together.
Located on a solid rock that had to be heavily jackhammered to get to the underground space, the materially-conscious construction uses the resulting rock slabs for its textured walls. Cement steps lead to the part-rustic, part-modern structure, while its geometric framing supports a cantilevered roof that provides plenty of shade for residents.
The tastefully art decorated interiors feature warm, neutral tones, but the outdoor spaces and the breathtaking views towards the hills and the secluded oak forest are the absolute show stealers.
