The creators of the Robotic Ball are back with another app-enabled companion to help you explore the surroundings ( and drive your pets crazy ). Dubbed the Sphero BB-8 Droid ($150), this little guy is a real version of the robot from the upcoming movie Star Wars The Force Awakens, and it packs lots of “wow” factors up its sleeve.
Ready to be guided via Android and iOS devices, or to start exploring the surroundings on its own, BB-8 features 3 modes: Driving, Patrol and Holographic Messaging (allows for recording and viewing virtual holographic videos ). The drone recognizes&reacts to your voice and it has an adaptive personality that changes as you interact with it. They say if you leave it unattended for too long, it will playfully try to get your attention. The BB-8 Droid comes with a dedicated remote control plus a matching wireless charging dock.
