Created for the 114th French Open tournament, the RM 27-02 Rafael Nadal timepiece is an outstanding luxury watch, whose main characteristic is innovation. It is very common for watches to flaunt new and exciting designs, but the real exquisite ones are especially impressive because of their technologic advancements. This one is a perfect example of that.
The major breakthrough for this model is the all-new unibody baseplate, which is made of super-resistant NTPT carbon, and which basically merges the baseplate with the caseband, thus enhancing the overall sturdiness of the watch. Very sculptural and eye catching, the unibody structure supports grade 5 titanium bridges, which in turn contribute to the unique aesthetics of the timepiece by flaunting hand-made finishes: shot-blasted, beveled, and satin-brushed.
Grade 5 titanium was also used for the 12 spline screws that keep the watch together, holding the RM27-02 manual winding tourbillon movement inside. Over the skeletonized insides there is an anti-glare sapphire crystal that ensures perfect visibility and protection. The case dimensions are 29.30 mm x 29.60 mm x 7.10 mm, which makes it not too bulky, yet not inconspicuous either. The wearer can bet on unfaltering accuracy and a power reserve of up to 70 hours, but keep in mind that only 50 units will ever hit the expensive watch market.
