Nothing’s hardware continues to grow and now extends beyond smartphones. Carl Pei’s bold new venture seems to have established a solid foothold in the market. Most tech industry pundits were unsure of its longevity at the start. Despite all odds, continuous hardware drops, such as the new Headphone (1) Pro, indicate otherwise.
With countless Android OEMs also growing their lineup beyond telecommunications, it’s not exactly a cakewalk for the fledgling firm. Nonetheless, it manages to stand its ground thanks to products with a distinctive design language, premium build quality, and cool gimmicks. What many did not expect, however, is the success of its foray into audio products.
The Headphone (1) Pro is the current flagship over-ear model. It promises outstanding comfort during extended listening sessions and is stylish enough to rock in public or at the gym. Nothing starts off with a machined metal construction for the earcups and titanium alloy for the arms. Next is the scratch-resistant glass, which matches the brand’s signature motif.
Each unit undergoes extensive testing to ensure everything performs according to a stringent set of standards. Nothing also promises IP52-rated protection from dust and moisture. Active noise cancellation is handled by 10 mics, while audio engineers at Metropolis Studios are in charge of acoustic tuning. Output then comes from three drivers to cover a wide frequency range.
Download the Nothing X app to personalize the sound profile of your headphones. Next are the intuitive controls, such as the roller volume control, click paddle, versatile function button, and EQ-to-Flat switch. While the overall look resembles the SKUs that came out before it, there are several tweaks exclusive to the Headphone (1) Pro. Fully charged, it lasts up to 68 hours with ANC turned off.
