Major car shows are magnets to independent tuning companies seeking recognition for the accomplishments they make in other brand production cars. Gunther Werks has presented with their 400R, ($Inquire), a remake of the classic air-cooled Porsche 993.
While retaining the naturally aspirated 4.0 liter flat-six engine, they contracted Rothsport Racing of Oregon to tighten it up to a 400 horsepower kick at 7,800 rpm and 330 ft-lb. of torque. The transmission is updated from shift linkage to a single mass mid-weight flywheel and single-plate carbon clutch. The body features special carbon fiber work on the roof, bumpers, and fenders widened to accommodate larger tires.
Carbon fiber takes over the interior as well with not only the material of the two carbon-fiber-backed bucket seats but the parcel shelf behind them as well. The trim inside is done with aluminum and the colors & materials of the entire cabin are very customizable. There are eighteen presets available or custom work can be commissioned. A super limited edition of only 25 vehicles.
