Google is expanding its lineup of fitness health wearables as teased by a short advert featuring NBA star Stephen Curry. This time, Google opted for a screenless fitness health band, unlike its Fitbit and Pixel smart watches.
The fitness band appears to be a strong contender for the recently released Whoop and Oura. Both models don’t have screens, and rely on subscriptions and AI to provide real-time health monitoring and historical data. Whoop tracks wrist-based metrics, including skin temperature, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and daily behaviors.
According to reports, Google’s new screenless fitness health band will focus on passive health tracking, with insights delivered through the Fitbit app. It will adopt a hybrid business model similar to Whoop’s. There will be an upfront payment for the hardware, while the advanced features will be available through a paid subscription.
Moreover, Google’s Gemini-powered personal health coach will be among the features in the new device. The system provides insights into certain areas, including mental health, hydration, recovery, cycle tracking, and nutrition.
Curry teased the launch of the screenless fitness health band himself in a short video posted on his Instagram. The paid partnership shows him dribbling and shooting a basketball, followed by a Google logo. But the gray and neon wristband he is wearing is what catches the attention.
Without spoiling anything, Curry said in a voiceover, “I’m excited for what this is going to mean for the world, for health and wellness. It’s the first of its kind, in a way.” He also added the caption, “I won’t spoil it. You’re going to have to see it for yourself.” In August 2025, at the Made by Google event, Curry signed on as Google’s performance advisor across Google Health, Google Pixel and Google Cloud.
