Once in a while, a new player comes in to add to the pool of choices for consumers out there. Depending on the quality and presentation, a new brand will live on and stay, or fail miserably and exit prematurely. Thankfully one UK watchmaker met success and is tirelessly working to deliver outstanding products. It’s the latest addition to its catalog is the Farer Oxley Black Watch. As the name suggests arrives in an elegant black colorway.

The first thing that caught our eye is the matte black dial and the multi-color setup of its hands. Since this is a GMT dual-time + date automatic model, an extra pointer is there to keep track of the other time zones. The hour and minute hands sport an orange rhodium coat with a Super-LumiNova filling. Next, the second hand is mostly in white with a sky blue skeleton tip in the shape of the brand’s emblem. Finally, the GMT hand is likewise fashioned with a cutout on the business end and coated in green, which is a clever touch.

Meanwhile, the markers and main numbers are metal with Super-LumiNova applications to the indices as well. The Farer Oxley Black Watch brandishes a 316L-grade stainless steel case with a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) layer. This manufacturing process enhances the material’s resistance to corrosion, improves hardness, and creates a classy dark finish on top. A quick flip to the rear and you can see the rotor and other complications underneath a sapphire glass panel. Only 150 examples of this elegant wristwatch will be available.
