An eye-opening example of the use of open space and massive windows to create the outdoor feel without leaving the comfort of the interior is this two-story forest house designed by Argentina’s Grupo Urban in the city of Cordoba.

Specifically incorporating the existing trees on the property, the aptly named “Casa del Bosque” consists of two distinct structures separated by a pool. The elongated front residence section houses a service area, kitchen, playroom, library and reading room, and two smaller bedrooms besides the larger master bedroom with its private bath and sauna. At the far end of the pool is the detached section containing a fully equipped kitchen and grilling area, dining room, and lounge area complete with fireplace. The pool is completely bordered by wooden decking.

The architects specifically used wood and stone to integrate the home into its natural surroundings. The very visual aspect of the large openings draws natural light to show off the splendid outdoor view of pool and trees. However open it seems though, the front residence section and the surrounding trees guard the privacy of the back yard and pool from the street. [via]
