The 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang are just around the corner (Feb. 9–Feb. 25) and the US team will be wearing clothing and gear that is sure to impress, and possibly even provide an edge over the other competitors.
The Burton Olympic NASA Snowboard Uniform is the fourth collab with the American national team and includes spacesuit-inspired clothing that is “innovative in function and retro-futuristic in design.” The competition suit–designed specifically for the halfpipe, slopestyle and big air snowboarding competitions–is made of an innovative material that deflects light and sound: an iridescent silver fabric coated in a slim layer of real aluminum.
This unique uniform collection also includes a lightweight down jacket made of non-woven Dyneema fabric (the world’s strongest fiber), a fleece jacket & pant, wool base layers, leather mitts, fleece gloves, tech t-shirts and beanies, all in NASA’s colours with patches that recreate iconic logos. Some items are available to the public, but you better hurry ’cause they’re flying off the shelves.
