Industrial designer James Stumpf has come up with some very interesting and unique Bamboo Kitchen Appliances Concepts ($NA) that not only look neat, they also make use of unconventional and renewable materials.
The series of appliances include an toaster, a blender and a dough mixer. They’re each made of sustainable steam-bent bamboo plywood, transparent glass, and a few metal parts here and there. The Eco toaster contains glass toasting trays with embedded quick-cooling coils, and a 2″x1″ touchscreen that tells the users when its safe to grab their toasty treats. Both the blender and mixer feature electric motors with exposed belt-driven systems, inspired by vintage watchmakers lathes. Boasting a clean design and made with sustainable elements, these appliances have a good chance to show up in your kitchen some day. That is, if they make it to the production line.
