The late Akira Toriyama was one of the world’s most beloved manga artists. His works include Dr. Slump, Sand Land, and, of course, the long-running Dragon Ball series. His portfolio also includes character designs for multiple video games, such as Chrono Trigger and the Dragon Quest series. LEGO caters to fans with the Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku kit.
It’s about time the shōnen manga gets the LEGO treatment. Who knows. If the sales numbers exceed expectations, we could see even more kits based on the franchise in the future. Product number 11390 is already available for purchase. Grab one for yourself or give it away as a gift.
Marketed under the Icons line, the details are outstanding. We’ve seen MOCs based on the hit anime/manga, but the Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku is a licensed deal. In the box are a total of 1,764 plastic bricks. For hardcore LEGO enthusiasts, more pieces mean hours and hours of fun.
You get to assemble a scale model of the wish-granting dragon, a display stand/base, and the Kintoun Cloud. The level of articulation is impressive. These include the head, body, mouth, legs, claws, and more. After every brick is in place, the entire thing measures 12.5″ x 9.5″ x 10″ and looks awesome on a desk, bookshelf, or display case.
Each Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku includes a Son Goku minifigure with his red Power Pole. All seven Dragon Balls are arranged at the bottom, while yellow lightning makes it look like you just summoned Shenron. Now all that’s left is to make a wish and have it granted as a reward for collecting the artifacts.
