The latest PlayStation State of Play had plenty of awesome trailers. However, there was also a pleasant surprise that nobody was expecting. In the middle of the stream, LEGO presented the PlayStation kit, and it hit us with a wave of nostalgia. We can’t wait to get our hands on this bad boy, put all the pieces together, and put it up for display.
As of this writing, the Danish toy group has already released several scale replicas of popular consoles. These include the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Nintendo Game Boy, Atari 2600, and SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive. Much like these sets, the upcoming PS1 buildable model is also shipping with cool easter eggs.
Despite the ongoing controversy regarding Sony’s stance on physical media and digital game ownership, we believe most gamers are thrilled for this new entry. The LEGO PlayStation is due to drop on October 4, 2026. There’s still plenty of time to work on your backlog before then. Product ID number 72306 contains 1,911 bricks in the box.
It’s clear the design team put a lot of thought and care into this SKU. In fact, the level of detail they were able to pull off here is impressive. Once fully assembled, you can press the Power button and Open button. Moreover, the gamepad is based on the original controller, which did not support rumble and did not even tout analog sticks at the time.
Pop the lid to see the hidden dioramas of PlayStation-exclusive titles such as Ape Escape and Gran Turismo.
