When Sony released the Discman in 1984, it was a revolutionary piece of technology at the time. CDs were gradually becoming the ubiquitous type of physical media for music, which is why a sequal to the Walkman was the ideal venture. Fosi Audio, meanwhile, offers the DISC Nano to quench your thirst for nostalgia.
A standard CD has a diameter of exactly 120 mm or roughly 4.7 inches. Depending on the make/model of your portable CD player, most can fit inside typical pockets, albeit snuggly. According to the manufacturer, it’s supposedly the “World’s Smallest Portable CD Player.” We can’t argue with that given the compromise it ships with.
At 102 mm x 102 mm x 29 mm, its size is noticeably not large enough to accommodate a full-size CD. Therefore, a solution the DISC Nano comes up with is to reduce the physical footprint. This approach reminds us of similar concepts behind popular portable vinyl record players like the Audio-Technica AT-SB727 Sound Burger and others.
Since MagSafe technology is supported by a wide range of 3rd-party accessories, Fosi Audio incorporates a magnetic section at the back. It snaps on securely onto kickstands, refrigerator doors, and other ferromagnetic surfaces. For high-fidelity music playback, the device is outfitted with a Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC silicon.
The DISC Nano ensures tracks don’t skip while you’re on the move courtesy of its ESP electronic anti-shock technology. Physical output ports include 3.5 mm/optical combo and 4.4 mm. Bluetooth connectivity is likewise on board, so you can pair the device with your favorite speakers wirelessly.
