When your brand is practically a household name in a specific product category, it might be time to expand into other market segments. Dyson is already at the top of its game in vacuum cleaners, but its catalog now includes other household appliances. The arrival of the CameraJet could give other big names in the oral care business a run for their money.
For this high-tech toothbrush, not only does it effectively clean your pearly whites, but shares a close-up view of them. The manufacturer calls it the Gap Optical Targeting system. While traditional flossing is still effective, many find water flossing significantly more comfortable. Plus, there’s less bleeding from your gums.
The manual method can eventually irritate sensitive tissues. The CameraJet, on the other hand, introduces a gentler and more precise alternative to your dental hygiene routine. Meanwhile, the included charging dock automatically refills the 0.67-fluid-ounce anti-gravity tank. It’s actually the reason why the handle is thicker than usual.
“We developed our own lab-based proxy plaque with the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Dentistry. A needle-shaped jet merely punctures the proxy plaque, failing to remove it. Dyson’s Conical jet sweeps the plaque away – and is designed to be gentler on gums and enamel,” writes Dyson.
At the tip of the brush head are dual bristles, followed by a silicone sonic dampener that also forms a hood for the conical jet. Below is a stroboscopic light module and a 100k-pixel macro lens camera. It streams live footage to your smartphone or tablet through 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The CameraJet is IPX7 water-resistant and packs enough charge for up to 10 days of regular usage. To prevent moisture ingress, the toothbrush relies on a pogo-pin interface.
