BMW has just unleashed an exotic beast on the road. A topless version of the company’s hard top plug-in hybrid, the 2019 BMW i8 Roadster features upgrades in both performance and styling.
Just like its sibling, the roadster sports frameless gullwing doors which now incorporate an aluminum exterior made from carbon fiber reinforced polymer. This super strong yet lightweight material is also found in the side skirts, helping to reduce the weight of the roadster to a mere 3,526 lbs. The hybrid engine remains the same, producing 374-hp for a 0-60 in 4.6 sec and a max speed of 155 mph.
Available in a sexy “e-copper metallic” colorway, the roadster wears 20-inch double spoke alloy wheels as standard and has a revamped interior with new seats and the mandatory carbon trim options, of course.
