Soon to be unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the McLaren Senna ‘Carbon-Theme’ is an ultra-aerodynamic and lightweight bolide with 789 horsepower at its disposal.
Developed by McLaren’s Special Operations team as part of the Ultimate Series, the hypercar pays tribute to famed former F1 driver Ayrton Senna, as it shows in its ‘Solar Yellow’ and ‘Laurel Green’ details that echo the racecar legend’s helmet. Besides the already impressive number of carbon fiber parts that compose the base model, the ‘Carbon Theme’ version adds even more of the black material, both on the outside and inside.
With a dry weight of 2,641 lb, the McLaren Senna is the lightest road vehicle ever built by the company. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 (0–62 mph in 2.8 sec, top speed of 211 mph) and uses hydraulic RaceActive Chassis Control II suspension, double-wishbone control arms, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, and new central-locking alloy wheels with Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R tires. In other words, it’s built to race.
Limited to 500 units (all of which have already been sold), the hand-built Senna sets you back about $1 million and the ‘Carbon Theme’ package adds an extra $412,000 to the price, but hey…it’s money well spent.
