Salt Lake City’s Nikola Powersports has just completed the design work for what they are hoping will be the most powerful production-ready Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) in the world. The Nikola Zero UTV ($35K) is all-electric with a 400 Volt electric drivetrain that matches a motor to each wheel, providing unparalleled maneuverability in 4×4 mode.

With 550 hp, 490 ft-lbs of torque and a 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds, this off-road 4-seater is like a mini tank on steroids. It is also incredibly waterproof. With an IP67 rating on the entire vehicle, this electric bad-boy can be completely submerged in water and still drive out although it is suggested you don’t actually do this.

The Nikola Zero forgoes the belt system of power transference for fully-geared motors. This provides near instant power response times with no downtime from slipped or broken belts. The independent wheel controls allow multiple terrain access from a slow crawl over rocks to a big push towards a ramp. The Nikola Zero has military-grade construction for a worry-free ride into whatever unknown spaces need exploring next.
