Modern adventurers have embraced the technology of sports performance tracking devices. They also know that calling for help in an emergency is a critical safety feature for other devices. Now both these features are being incorporated into the new Phipal Adventure Monitor ($100). Using proven sensoring technology, the Phipal is attached to your helmet so it is out of the way.
Coupled with the phone app, the Phipal feeds real time updates on your movement, speed, position, and other sports critical information. The real providence comes in case of an accident. When certain pressures or movements indicate a possible problem, the Phipal will ask you if you are okay. If it does not get a reply, it will then proceed to text for help from friends or emergency responders with information including GPS coordinates.
You don’t have to worry about low batteries since the Phipal has two: one for regular monitoring functions and the second dedicated to emergency broadcasting. The Phipal comes in two configurations. One uses cellphone networking only while the Pro version adds satellite connectivity to reach out from those places where cell towers just can’t go. Details in the video.
