FOX Cutlery has been making unique quality knives since Oreste Frati started the company in 1977. For his latest outing in ruggedly functional yet striking Italian made knives he went to Danish industrial designer Jens Anso. Anso’s blades have featured prominently in both Boker and Spyderco knives.
His FOX Anso Flipper Folding Knife ($132) on first glance looks a little strange. However, the deep bellied blade means extra strength for cutting while protecting the elongated piercing tip. The ergonomic design of the blade naturally pulls cutting material towards the hilt while detail work can be controlled via the chamfered concave spine.
The 3.5 inch, 3.6 mm thick blade is Bohler N690Co stainless steel and the handle comes in three varieties, titanium, G-10 glass-based epoxy resin laminate, or Palissandro santos wood. As functional as it is beautiful, the FOX Anso Flipper even has a right-handed pocket clip to keep it always ready at your side.
