Norwegian bootstrap designer Torgeir Sanders has a passion for old cars, so it’s no wonder that his latest creation, the CMXI Watch ($267) is a tribute to that love of racing, by having the look of a classic 1970’s sport car tachometer.
On the face of this stainless steel watch resides only the one large hand to sweep past the hour indicators & the precision crafted lines between denote 10 minute intervals. Other small dials are inset to show, minutes, hours, and seconds. The case is 45mm wide & 11mm high, with a flat sapphire glass, while inside runs a Citizen Miyota 6SA2 movement. It is rated for water resistance up to 3 atmospheres. The band sports a dual row of holes reminiscent of racing gloves.
The timepiece looks sleek enough to be worn on the racetrack, which is why the creator’s slogan “Cursus Victus” (translated as “The racing way of life”), is engraved on each chronograph.
