For the true automobile aficionado, the custom restoration of a classic car is as close to heaven as it gets. Rob Dickinson, founder and creator of Singer Vehicle Design, has just debuted a star at the Monterey Car Week.
The Singer orange “Luxemburg Targa” began life as a “simple” 1990 Porsche 911 Targa, with a 390bhp four-litre flat-six engine. Inside, the vehicle has been fitted with a bespoken “Tyler Tartan” design of seven colors of woven leather; the blue, orange & cream pattern complimenting the deep orange exterior & a navy blue removable carbon fiber roof.
Some custom mechanics include Brembo brakes to help restrain the 4.0 litre engine developed by Ed Pink, and a 6-speed gearbox which provides all the sport performance you’d expect of a Porsche. Dickinson points out that on this Targa, like all other cars he modifies, the hoop now has only two air filtering louvers instead of the factory build which had three (detail you surely noticed in the engine picture below ..).
