Australia has some of the harshest environments on the planet, so it’s no surprise that Aussies are relay good at building impressively rugged off-road gear. Case in point, the Bruder EXP-6 Trailer ($68,000) – a go-anywhere rig that’s tough as nails on the outside, but comfy as home inside.
With a watertight chassis (which can hold 11X its weight), a 1.2″-thick composite shell, and high-density rubber mounts in between, the 3,704-lb, 22-ft long trailer offers a smooth ride, aided by the multi-link air suspension setup (12″ of travel). There’s also a snorkel system that pulls in & filters air, an onboard air compressor, and an electrically-operated top & rear hatch, the latter opening to an entry door, storage drawers and an exterior shower. An indoor/outdoor kitchen is found on the left side, offering a stainless steel sink, cooktop, countertop, and a fridge/freezer.
Inside, you get 7 ft (2.1 m) of headroom, a queen bed and convertible sofa bed, a table, LED HD TV, shower, toilet & drop-down washbasin, and more storage space. Other standard specs include diesel heating & hot water, three water tanks with a capacity of 52.8 gal, interior/exterior LED lighting, a full electrical system, roof-mounted solar, etc. Just add the optional water-filtration system and maybe a satellite phone, and you should be set to embark on a long expedition. Open return date, of course. [via]
