A luxurious, all terrain fortress is how they call the Range Rover Sentinel ($450,000). And based on its looks and capabilities we have to agree that’s a proper description.
Land Rover’s first armored vehicle, the Sentinel is built to withstand extreme attacks, but it still maintains the brand’s distinctive features such as the luxury details and off road skills. Looking very similar to the donor Autobiography model, this special-edition SUV is certified to VR8 standard against ballistic threats. It features a steel-plated armored passenger cell and multi-laminated windows, allowing it to stop 7.62 mm high-velocity bullets, as well as 33 lb TNT explosions, and DM51 hand grenades going off both beneath the floor and on top of the vehicle. Furthermore, there’s an emergency escape system behind the rear seats, special wheels that let you drive the car with deflated tires, a fire-suppression system, anti-tamper exhaust, a self-sealing fuel tank, and an auxiliary back-up battery.
Powering the Sentinel is a 340 bhp, 3-liter V6 supercharged petrol engine coupled to a specially-calibrated 8-speed gearbox. Other specs include Dynamic/Ride Stability Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Closing Vehicle Sensing, and Surround Camera Security. As for interior options, the Range Rover Sentinel is available in ebony, ivory, or dark cherry, with leather headlining. You can call it a luxury tank. Details in the video
