‘Wheels and Waves’ is an annual event taking place in Biarritz (France’s Basque coast) that celebrates motorcycles and surfing. It is also the setting where one of our favourite custom builders, Deus Ex Machina, revealed their latest creation – the stunning Yard Built XV950 ‘D-Side’ Motorcycle.
Born in collaboration with Yamaha for the Yard Built’s project, the D-Side is inspired by vintage water crafts, featuring a classic boat shape detail at the front of the sidecar and a beautiful wooden deck at the rear for extra luggage. The bike was first stripped to the core and then elements were added without any cutting or frame-welding. These clever touches include a surf rack fixed between the sidecar and bike, a Deus aluminium fuel tank, custom aluminium front and rear fenders, and a 6-piston Deus/Discacciati brake system for more stopping power. There is also a new exhaust (provided by Sc-Project), a custom air intake and cone filter, plus a few other additions that set the D-Side apart. And we just can’t help but imagining how this thing sounds- probably like the soundtrack of a perfect summer.
