Luminox is no stranger when it comes to rugged wristwatches made with the outdoors in mind. Yet, this new model, called the Luminox ICE-SAR Arctic, reportedly meets another level of durability. The product description reveals that the aforementioned timekeeper is a product of a partnership between watchmaker and the Iceland Search and Rescue team. It’s built according to the specifications set by this amazing group of people who risk their safety to help those in need.
You get a 46mm heavy-duty CARBONOX case with crown protection and a 316L stainless steel case back. Moreover, the bezel is also CARBONOX and integrates an orange light tube at the 12 o’clock mark. Protected by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, you can choose from a white, black, black/red, and blue dial. Underneath beats a RONDA 525 HF 6 analog quartz movement. Both hands are equipped with orange light tubes, while all the other indices are paired with green ones instead.
The Luminox ICE-SAR Arctic’s robust construction gives it a water resistance of up to 660 feet. The signature rubber straps feature a black textile inlay with black stitching and a CARBONOX buckle. Moreover, each light tube’s self-powered illumination delivers a constant glow for up to 25 years.
