The McIntosh MT2 Precision Turntable is a high-end piece of audiophile kit that combines sophisticated looks with the latest technology. At $4K, it also costs cheaper than its predecessors.
The turntable features a moving coil cartridge that’s compatible with both phono inputs and moving magnet inputs. Its dural-aluminum tonearm has damping materials, while the internal bearings contain ceramic with damping fluid, ensuring noise-free musical reproduction. A highly compressed wood base, together with a top and middle acrylic plates, and a 1” thick belt-driven solid black outer platter, helps absorb unwanted vibrations that can cause noise during playback.
Able to play both 33-1/3 and 45 rpm records, the MT2 is ready to use out of the box as tracking force, anti-skate force, cartridge overhang and arm height are all tuned from the factory. The cherry on top of the cake is a subtle green glow that emanates from under the platter and the outside edges of the plinth.
