Steelmont RS-511 Series Watches

The founder and designer of Steelmont loves fine automobiles as much as he does well crafted timepieces, so there’s no wonder the brand’s latest release mirrors that affection.  Although stylish enough to be worn at a social event, the Steelmont RS-511 Series Watches ($450) were designed not so much as a fashion statement, but more as something that would appeal to hard-core motor enthusiasts.

Boasting a 47 mm piston-inspired, stainless steel case with Gun Ionic-Plating (IP), the Steelmont RS-511 shows it means business. Under its flat, K1 glass crystal there’s satin-finished dial – a modern interpretation of classic car instruments – featuring subtle vertical racing stripes. The slightly sunken dial gives room for the raised index markers and numbers that catch the light in many ways and makes it visible under even low-light conditions. This enhanced visibility is also extended to the hands which are 6-sided aluminum and are given a “Super Luminous” coating. The bezel, case and numbers are finished with a combination of circular & vertical brushing for rich, lux feel, while the gear-inspired crown is also polished with Gun IP and an etched Steelmont logo.

Available in five separate colorways, the 100-meter water resistant RS-511 houses a proven and ultra-reliable Seiko Instrument TMI VD54 movement with a standard two year battery life. The straps are genuine leather with heavy-gauge stitching (also reminiscent of that found on steering wheel covers & seat upholstery) and further streamline the look of the watch by attaching through a hidden construction, so they appear to spring directly from the metal.

Whether you are in the cockpit or under the hood, the Steelmont RS-511 discreetly demonstrates firm proof of your love of the freedom a well-tuned automobile can provide.
