Starting life as a small in-house shoe company in Anaheim, California in 1966, the Van Doren Rubber Company has become a skateboarding legend with their durable, quality footwear. Now to celebrate their 50th year, Vans has introduced the 2016 SK8-Hi MTE ($85).

Revamped for the elements, the high tops feature Vans premium Scotchgard-treated leather and suede uppers, while the newly-constructed vulcanized lug outsole utilizes advanced snow boot design for superior traction. Inside they sport a fleece lining and a special heat retention layer between sockliner and outsole. Reinforced toecaps and padded collars enhance their support & flexibility. Since the SK8-Hi model was introduced in 1978 they have always focused on upper ankle support to protect skateboarders from lower extremity damage from their boards.

The kicks rock the signature Vans Sidestripe and are available in twenty five color combinations to keep them as stylish as they are utilitarian.
