Smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has just taken their new concept Mi MIX ($515) to a place few have dared to go. Edge to edge display has mostly just been a pipe-dream but the Mi MIX has a large 6.4″ 2,040 x 1,080 pixel LCD bezel-less display screen that is surrounded by a mere sliver on three sides and a very minimal chin on the bottom to hold the front sensor & camera aperture.

Inside the completely ceramic case is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. The Mi MIX has two cameras; a 16 mega-pixel main unit and a 5 mega-pixel front facing selfie camera. It is powered by a fast-charging 4,400 mAh battery that promises to hold power all day despite the size of the screen.

The Mi MIX is coming in two versions. One model will have 4 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage. A pricier model comes with 6 gigabytes of RAM, 256 gigabytes of storage, and with the rear camera and fingerprint reader accented in 18-karat gold!

As of right now the Mi MIX is only going to be released in China (starting November) but should it prove the concept of edge to edge screens, expect many more smartphones to play catch-up around the world.
