Volkswagen has announced a new car that it says is the most fuel efficient of all time, so if you are at one with Mother Nature this is your new ride. The German automobile giant says the VW XL1 ($TBA) can run 261 miles to a gallon, while running just the electric motor will last for 31 miles and emit zero emissions. Obviously, you are not going to be drag racing down the Las Vegas strip in the VW XL1 as it only sports an 800cc motor, but for nipping about town this could be a good prospect. The great news is that the car looks suitably futuristic and unlike so many tantalizing rides, this is not a concept because we will see a late 2013 release.
