Triumph has recently unveiled two new sleek streetfighters, which look like great contenders for the title of ‘the quickest and baddest bikes money can buy’. Enter Triumph’s Speed Triple R and Triple S ($TBA).
The latest versions of the iconic Speed Triple (first released to the public in 1994) have undergone a comprehensive rework. While the engine capacity remains the same as the previous model – 1050cc – the new motor features a total of 104 developments to deliver more power and increased torque. These include an advanced combustion chamber & cylinder head, machined crank, ride-by-wire throttle bodies, as well as a slip assist clutch, a more efficient radiator, and a free-flowing exhaust that has a 70% increase in flow rate. Five distinct riding modes can be selected: Road, Rain, Sport, Track, and a Rider Configurable mode that allows the motorcycle to be set up to your own personal taste and environment.
Cosmetic upgrades involve new headlamps, redesigned bodywork and a host of electronics upgrades, plus a new Daytona 675R-inspired, tailpiece that frames the twin underseat exhausts. The new R model is a bit more fancy, with a carbon fiber front mudguard and fuel tank infills, higher-spec Öhlins forks, billet-machined handlebar clamps and risers, and fine aesthetic details. The Speed Triple S arrives in Diablo Red & Phantom Black colors, while the R comes in Crystal White & Matt Graphite, and both promise to deliver a “perfect balance of power, handling, capability and character.”
