Whenever a distillery comes up with a new product line, it usually follows a specific theme. Inspiration can come from almost anything, and it’s this fact that always keeps drinkers on the edge of their seats. There’s never a hint of what to expect, which is a wonderful thing for whisky aficionados who love a good surprise. This new release is called The Finale.

If it’s still not obvious, The Macallan’s wonderful single malt series draws to a close in 2026. The inaugural expression in this annual affair made its debut in 2021 with A Night on Earth In Scotland. What followed was The Journey, In Jerez De La Frontera, and The First Light. Now, we’re finally bidding adieu to this amazing collection.

The whiskies gave us a glimpse of how people around the world traditionally celebrate the New Year. As much as we would have liked it to continue, The Finale might be a sign of even greater things to come soon. Until then, here’s what this spirit brings to the table. The slogan reads “Crafted in Harmony.”

It embodies the “soulful flavours and spirited aromas of New Orleans, inviting the senses on a journey steeped in rhythm, warmth and character.” Curating it from start to finish is Whisky Maker Diane Stuart. It involves maturation in sherry-seasoned European oak and American oak casks. Pour a glass, and you’ll see a whisky with the hue of vibrant brass.

Defining aromas of clove, peppercorn, chocolate, cinnamon, star anise, treacle, and dried berries set your expectations before the big sip. Your taste buds then experience notes of cherries, creamy vanilla, nutmeg, anise, ginger, spun sugar, dried fruit, and polished oak. Ultimately, The Finale leaves drinkers with “soft spices fading into a creamy sweet oak finish.”
