2019 is shaping up to be a year where events and companies are marking significant milestones. Bentley is boasting 100 years with Bugatti even longer at 110. The two automakers are offering exclusive models to the delight of their fans. Another two are likewise celebrating their respective achievements but in the form of a cool collaboration. TAG Heuer and The Hour Glass are joining hands and giving us the limited edition Monaco.
This joint project commemorates the 50th anniversary of TAG Heuer’s Monaco model together with the 40th anniversary of the luxury watch retailer. This is an elegant timepiece which will only see 50 examples on offer for collectors to snap up.
The watch features a square 39 mm stainless steel case with a black PVD coating. The color lends an exquisite contrast to the beige opaline dial and red indices. Meanwhile, the minute and hour hands are plated in black gold. The white Super-LumiNova markings keep the details visible in low light conditions. Protecting the components is a domed and beveled sapphire crystal.
As with all other Monaco watches, the crown sits on the left side, while the two buttons occupy the right flank. It comes with a perforated black calfskin strap with a black PVD steel folding clasp. Finally, the timepiece relies on TAG Heuer’s Calibre 11 automatic movement.
The watchmaker reminds us that the model got its name from the Monaco Grand Prix at the behest of Jack Heuer. This iconic chronograph wristwatch series further shot to fame with the help of Steve McQueen wearing it in Le Mans.
