Tailgating, overlanding, off-roading, and other vehicle-supported outdoor adventures need a fire pit that combines sleek design and efficient performance. One that doesn’t take up most of the vehicle’s limited space but adapts to the space. Rough Trails Equipment (RTE) designed the FireFold specifically for this purpose.

At a glance, it doesn’t look like a typical fire pit, but looks like a laptop-sized case in a stainless steel chassis. But it transforms into a reliable cooking setup. While it’s not technically the slimmest or lightest on the market, it’s fairly compact and portable for outdoor escapades that require controlled fire.

RTE FireFold weighs just 2.5kg, packs down to merely 1.75″ thick, and measures 14.25″ long and 10.25″ wide. It takes up very minimal space in your vehicle. It slides alongside recovery boards, hides under platforms, and it stays out of sight until you need it. This fire pit doesn’t need a dedicated storage space in your vehicle.

Despite its compact footprint, it burns big and bright. As the saying goes, “great things come in small packages.” Don’t let its packed size fool you. It doesn’t sacrifice heating performance, delivering up to 320,000 BTU/HR of heat input. It delivers serious warmth in the cold. Its burner distributes the flame across the pit, bringing a real campfire experience without firewood.

The RTE FireFold is ideal for base camps that prohibit wood for fire pits since it uses propane, which burns clean and hot. The hose has a 20 PSI adjustable regulator that adjusts the flame from a low glow to a full campfire. Conveniently, when opened, the hinged lids double as a sturdy stand for the pit.
