Just like we pointed out recently, even the world’s leading brands occasionally revisit their older catalogs. It could be to gain some inspiration or to reintroduce a hit back in the day. Earlier this year Porsche Design brought back the Chronograph 1 for the model’s 50th anniversary, which sold out instantly. Now, we’re getting the All Black Numbered Edition.

What makes the Chronograph 1 All Black Numbered Edition special is its distinction as part of Porsche Design’s regular collection. However, since the demand for this silhouette is as strong as ever, only 1,000 examples will make it into production every year.

So, if you want one, place your preorders now. Just like the cars manufactured by the German marque, this timekeeping instrument is a mechanical masterpiece. The blackout colorway enhances its macho yet understated appeal.

The Chronograph 1 All Black Numbered Edition features a 40.80 mm x 14.15 mm titanium case, case middle, and open-work case back. Porsche Design goes for a glass-bead-blasted process with a black titanium carbide coat to give it a matte finish. Meanwhile, Sapphire crystals on both ends tout anti-reflective coatings for optimal visibility.

Beating at the heart of the Chronograph 1 All Black Numbered Edition is the in-house WERK 01.140 self-winding caliber. Moreover, this 25-jewel movement comes with a 48-hour power reserve and a Porsche Design icon rotor. It runs the three-hand, day/date chronograph complication with three sub-dials.

These are on a matte black dial with indications and hour markers in white. Also, a red second hand adds a measure of contrast to the monochromatic motif. The Chronograph 1 All Black Numbered Edition sports a quick-change matte black titanium-carbide-coated titainium bracelet with a folding clasp closure.
