Legacy Overland of Greenwich, Connecticut has spent decades refining the process of improving and restoring classic off-road vehicles. Their latest build, set to be auctioned at Bonham’s next month, is an impeccable 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 (Auction ~$65K-$85K) they have restored to better than new condition.
To bring it up to modern needs, the 2,977cc inline 4-cylinder diesel engine was completely rebuilt along with the 4-speed manual transmission. The suspension has also been overhauled with upgrades from Australia’s 4×4 specialists Old Man Emu. The body of this classic 4×4 was completely stripped and given a unique shade of Olive Green paint that matches the beige period-correct soft top. A custom-built extra strength rollbar as also installed.
While there are no sensor movement cameras to assist you when parking or an iPad dock inside, you do get some modern technology such as the LED lights and a Bluetooth-enabled radio that is retrofit to look like the original. With stitched Italian leather upholstery and front bucket seats, this outstandingly new Land Cruiser is ready to take its next owner on the next grand adventure. Or just on a trip to buy bread and wine. In Tuscany. [via]
