New iPhone 7 Rumors and Leaks

A new report, from Chinese Publication DigiTimes, notes that Taiwanese company Primax Electronics will be making some of the dual camera modules for the iPhone 7 Plus.

The company has increased its production rate by 10 percent and will be providing 12 million units every month. They are looking forward to a very profitable quarter thanks to Apple’s order.

Latest rumors suggests that the next generation iPhone 7 and 7 Plus may feature fast charging technology. The new smartphones apparently come with a 5-volt, 2-amp fast charging in their circuit. That’s double the current iPhone 6s rating.

Another report from French blog Nowherelse.fr states that the 4.7 inch iPhone 7 may get optical image stabilization. Leaked photos of the iPhone 7 iSight camera reveal similarities with the sensors from iPhone 6/6s Plus.

Until now, only the larger 5.5 inch iPhone Plus had optical image stabilization. Now that the iPhone 7 Plus might be getting dual camera tech, it is possible that the iPhone 7 may get optical image stabilization.

We might have an actual iPhone 7 release date, if a new rumor is to be believed. Online publication Bloomberg is reporting that Apple will release the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on September 7. Apple will soon send out invites for the event, and we shall know if this rumor turns out to be true or not.

Another set of genuine looking iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro photos have been released on the web. This time, it comes from prominent leaker Sonny Dickson, who’s had a very good track record with iPhone leaks.

He posted two photos that he claims are the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in Rose Gold. It looks similar to all the other leaked images, so we’re not sure if these are real or fake.

A new video showing a fully working iPhone 7 prototype was posted online earlier this week. This video shows an iPhone 7 running Apple test software giving us a look at some of the upcoming features.

The video also shows the iPhone 7 camera in action, but is quite blurry, as is common with most leaked videos. Check out the full video below.

Several more leaks have surfaced since the last update. According to the latest rumors, the 4.7 inch iPhone 7 may be called 6SE. These rumors come from China, so you need to take it with a pinch of salt.

The new smartphones will also feature larger capacity batteries, said a well known leaker. The iPhone 7, or whatever it will be called, could come with a 1,960 mAh battery. Whereas the larger Plus/Pro variant will have a 2,810 mAh battery. Once again, it may not be a 100 percent accurate.

Another leak stated that the iPhone 7 pre-orders will start on September 9, with the announcement happening on the 6th or 7th. The devices will be available in store on September 16.

A new video surfaced recently that compares an alleged iPhone 7 with the current gen iPhone 6s. You can see the slightly different rear design of the iPhone 7, where the antenna lines are now on the edges.

Also visible is the new larger camera, which still protrudes out of the body. Finally, the 3.5 mm headphone jack has been retired and you’ll see two stereo speakers at the bottom. Watch the video below;

iPhone 7 Photo Leak

Update- July 16, 2016 – A new photo has leaked on the internet that shows the back of the iPhone 7. This isn’t the first leaked photo of the upcoming iPhone, but this is the best one yet. It’s not blurry, it’s out in the world, and looks quite real.

French website Nowherelse.fr posted the photo recently, and claim that it’s the iPhone 7. You can see subtle design changes, as it has been reported before. The antenna lines are now on the edges and the camera seems to be larger. This is the 4.7 inch iPhone 7, as the larger Pro/Plus model will supposedly have a dual-camera setup.

Update – July 03, 2016 – A new report states that the new iPhone 7 will come with a new color, Space Black. Apple has used this color on the Apple Watch. It’s a slightly darker version of Space Gray.

9to5Mac reports that Apple will get rid of the clickable Home Button with a capacitive one that simulates clicks using Haptic feedback. This is similar to Force Touch found on the 12inch Macbook, Apple Watch, and the iPhone 6s.

The Home button will still be a physical button, but will not be clickable. We’ve heard this rumor plenty of times before, that the next iPhone will have the Home Button flush with the display.

Also, sources have told 9to5Mac, that Apple is indeed working on wireless earpods. This is because the new iPhone will most likely get rid of the 3.5mm headphone port.

Update – June 24, 2016 – A new rumor suggests that the iPhone 7 will include some changes in the front. Previously, it was said that the iPhone 7 will look very similar to the iPhone 6 and 6s, except for hidden antenna lines.

Now, the latest rumor from China states that the front of the iPhone 7 will have relocated proximity and ambient light sensors. The earpiece speaker hole will also be larger than the present models.

This means that screen protectors made for the iPhone 6/6s will not work on the iPhone 7. That’s bad, because the new device isn’t going to be any different in design. Whereas the 2018 iPhone is said to feature a major redesign. It’s going to be bad for manufacturers of screen protectors and cases.

Update – June 17, 2016 – A new leaked image shows the front of what is supposedly the iPhone 7. This is the first we’re seeing the front of Apple’s next-gen smartphone. We’re not sure how legit this photo is, but at this point, it is okay to speculate.

There have been several rumors regarding the iPhone 7, and one of them stated that Apple will incorporate the Home Button on to the display, and get rid of the physical button.

In the leaked photo, you can see that the Home Button doesn’t seem like a physical button. It’s more like a capacitive button with the TouchID sensor beneath it. Once again, this could very well be a fake, so take this with a pinch of salt.

If you look at the full image of the phone, it can be seen that the sensors near the earphone are all placed wrong, unlike on the latest iPhone. So, this could also be an Android device. The idea of having a capacitive Home Button will equal to no physical wear and tear, which is a good thing.

Update – May 27, 2016 – More rumors, rumors, and some more rumors. According to a report by DigiTimes, Intel will be supplying the LTE modem chips for the upcoming iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Up to 50 percent of the modem chips will be supplied by Intel.

Up unit now, Qualcomm has been supplying chips to Apple, but with the iPhone 7, we might see both Qualcomm and Intel made LTE chips.

Another new report suggests that Apple has asked its suppliers to ramp up production and make more than what’s expected. The WSJ reported that Apple may manufacture around 65 million units of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus this year, but looks the company is targeting between 72 and 78 million units.

Update – May 9, 2016 – The iPhone 7, which will be released in a few months time, is supposed to lack the 3.5mm headphone port according to various rumors and reports. However, a new purported iPhone 7 part shows that the device may not do away with the port.

French website Nowherelse.fr got their hands on an image that detailed a purported lightning cable assembly said to belong to the iPhone 7. The part clearly shows a headphone port, similar to the one found on the iPhone 6s. Although the design of the part is different, the headphone port is still present.

The website received this image from an anonymous source on Weibo, so the legitimacy is questionable.

Another new rumor suggests that the device will also not feature the Smart Connector found in the iPad Pro. Japanese blog Macotakara is reporting that Apple is planning to not include the Smart Connector in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Update – April 25, 2016 – According to a new report by KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 7 will not have any attractive selling points. He also notes that other manufacturers will do better than the iPhone this year.

The iPhone 7 will see a decline in sales, according to the analyst. He believes that Apple will only manage to ship between 190 to 210 million iPhones this year. This is because the iPhone 7 will not have any breakthrough features or new design.

Update – April 21, 2016 – According to a new report, the iPhone 7 coming later this year may not have the fastest flash storage in the industry. The recently announced Samsung Galaxy S7 uses a V-NAND UFS 2.0 storage manufactured by Samsung. ETNews reports that due to a disagreement with Apple, Samsung was taken off the NAND flash chip supplier list for the iPhone 7.

Next years iPhone will mostly have the new flash chip by Samsung, but the iPhone 7 will probably lag behind in storage performance. Samsung recently unveiled a 256GB UFS 2.0 chip as well, which was rumored to be used in this years iPhone. Looks like that may not happen.

Update – April 17, 2016 – The latest rumor suggests that the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be thinner than current models, measuring between 6 and 6.5mm.

Apple will be getting rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack to make the iPhone 7 thinner, but it was thought they’d use that space to increase the battery capacity. Instead, the company would just make the device thinner.

Update – April 6, 2016 – Once again, it is being said that only the larger 5.5 inch iPhone 7 model will come with a dual lens camera. KGI Security analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently sent out a note to investors, which was obtained by Apple Insider.

According to him, Apple will not sell more than 200 million iPhones in 2016. The company shipped around 230 million iPhones in 2015. Buyers may not be that impressed to have the dual camera iSight camera on only the 5.5-inch model. This could cause Apple to sell less number of iPhones in 2016.

Update – March 20, 2016 – New leaked photos of the iPhone 7 Plus have emerged that show the rear of the device. Rumors and reports have suggested that the larger iPhone 7 Plus will sport a dual camera setup and if this leaked photo is real, then it may be true.

It is recommended, to take this with a grain of salt, as these could be just fakes used for publicity. Chinese website posted a photo of an alleged silver iPhone 7 Plus that shows the dual-camera setup and re-positioned antenna lines.

At the bottom, you’ll also see the Smart Connector that Apple has included on the iPad Pro. We’re not sure what that would be used for on the iPhone 7.

Another set of photos were obtained by AppleInsider, which show an iPhone 7 without the 3.5 mm headphone jack. The photos also show an iPhone without the Home button.

There have been rumors that Apple may get rid of the Home Button and instead integrate the TouchID sensor and the button into the display. This seems highly unlikely, but would help Apple make a smaller device while retaining same screen size.

Update – March 10, 2016

New case leaks once again suggest that Apple will be letting go of the 3.5 mm headphone jack in iPhone 7. Leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer also known as @onleaks, posted some pictures of an alleged iPhone 7 case with an iPhone 6s in it.

Now, for the most part, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 7 will be very close in design. However, one significant change will be the lack of a headphone jack. And as shown in the leaked photos of the iPhone 7 case, it seems to be true.

The camera hole in the case seems to be bigger; we think it’s for the dual camera, but it isn’t that big either. The case is for the iPhone 7, not the iPhone 7 Plus, which is supposed to have the dual camera setup.

In the second picture below, you can see that a larger speaker cutout has replaced the cutout for the headphone jack.

Update – March 5, 2016 – The Apple iPhone 7 could feature new LTE modems made by Intel, according to an analyst at CLSA Securities. Almost 30 to 40 percent of modems for the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be supplied by Intel, say sources who’re familiar with the supply chain.

Apple normally uses LTE modems manufactured by Qualcomm, but this year’s iPhone could see faster speeds with 450Mbps downloads and 100Mbps uploads. The Intel XMM 7360 chip will support LTE 10, giving the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus an immense boost. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus currently use Qualcomm MDM9635 modem, which offers 300Mbps downloads and 50Mbps uploads.

Update – March 3, 2016 – Apple will release the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus in September this year and the Plus model will feature some advanced camera tech. We’ve already heard several reports suggesting that the iPhone 7 Plus will be available in two variants, one with a dual camera system, the other with a single camera.

Now, the latest report states that Apple may call this model with dual cameras as ‘iPhone 7 Pro‘. Makes sense, don’t you think? Take this report with a grain of salt though.
