It’s time for another seasonal wardrobe refresh. So switch up to warmer apparel, layer up with your favorite outerwear, and maybe grab a brand-new pair of sneakers. Nike is taking a popular silhouette and revamping it with a fresh and dapper colorway just in time for autumn. Here’s the Air Monarch SE in “Cacao Wow.”
Tonal shades are awesome when applied properly, but can appear garish if not. So far, these kicks are also available in a much darker profile. Style: IB2281-001 arrives in Black/Gum Medium Brown/Black and would look great with any outfit. Meanwhile, Style: IB2281-200 is listed as Cacao Wow/Gum Medium Brown/Gum Medium Brown/Cacao Wow.
The latter does a better job of showcasing the textures of the upper. Specifically, the velvety nap of suede that adorns this cross-training shoe. Nike bills this model as “workout shoes” for a reason. Despite the casual stature at a glance, each Air Monarch SE is engineered for comfort and performance when the user needs it.
As a fashion statement, you can’t go wrong with the use of genuine leather along with synthetic leather. Color-matched stitching defines the panels and overlays from the front to the back. Elsewhere, the Swoosh logo, Air Monarch tongue tags, and Air branding just below the heel pull tab are all embroidered.
Swoosh emblems are also printed on the small kiltie that extends just above the vamp. Next, the mesh tongue, round shoelaces, plush collar, and padded inner lining all combine to deliver a snug yet cozy fit overall. Lastly, a full-length Air-Sole unit within a lightweight foam midsole gives the Air Monarch SE superior cushioning, while the durable outsole provides solid traction.
