Exactly as tech industry pundits and analysts predicted, the debut of the iPhone Air will inspire Android OEMs release similar models. Although Apple might be behind when it comes to certain features, its hardware design remains highly regarded. The latest brand to announce a svelte smartphone is HONOR. Its new SKU is the Magic8 Pro Air.
Straight out of the gate, the Chinese company does not even try to hide it. Similar to the iPhone 17 Pro series’ distinctive Cosmic Orange, the Magic8 Pro Air also comes in a similar shade. Officially, the hues available are Light Orange, Shadow Black, Fairy Purple, and Feather White.
Moreover, the form factor seems like a direct copy of the iPhone Air, albeit with a few cosmetic tweaks. Nevertheless, HONOR’s latest device boasts a couple of advantages over its iOS-running muse. Measuring approximately 150.5 mm x 71.9 mm x 6.1 mm, it’s ever so slightly thicker.
At about 155 grams, the handset weighs less than the competition. A 6.31″ OLED panel with a resolution of 2640 x 1216 and a 120 Hz refresh rate covers the front. The display can also muster a peak brightness of 6,000 nits. At this level, visibility under direct sunlight shouldn’t be an issue.
Next up is the Dimensity 9500 SoC paired with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage as the top configuration. Elsewhere, the Magic8 Pro Air’s primary imaging setup includes a 50 MP main, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle, and a 64 MP periscope telephoto.
Selfies, on the other hand, are handled by a 50 MP front-facing camera. Powering the Magic8 Pro Air is a 5,500 mAh lithium-ion battery with support for 80W wired SuperCharge. HONOR says 50W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging are standard.
