You already know that it was only a matter of time before BRABUS imparts its signature work on an EV. The renowned tuner continues to show its love for Mercedes-Benz with a new bespoke package for the EQS 450. The German carmaker is in no-way lacking when it comes to luxurious appointments, but this project takes it further.
No matter how much motoring purists push back on battery-electric powertrains, the automotive industry already envisions a green future. Tesla’s overwhelming success paved the way for others to soon follow or be left out. Even an illustrious marque like Mercedes-Benz knows it needs to adapt. Now, it’s BRABUS’ turn to go with the flow.
While the team is likely in the process of studying the intricacies of emission-free powertrains, it approaches this venture tactfully instead. Since they can’t poke around the batteries and motors just yet, aerodynamics is their point of attack. The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 welcomes a body kit engineered to reduce drag.
The luxury EV sedan retains the factory-endowed 355 horsepower and 590 lb-ft torque output. Range, on the other hand, improves from the original 457 miles to around 489 miles depending on how hard you push it. The BRABUS add-ons include new front spoilers, decklid spoiler, rear diffusers, deflectors, and side intakes.
Furthermore, the stock 19-inch rims are swapped out for 22-inch Monoblok wheels. These are now shod in 295/30 tires on the rear, while the front wears 255/35 rubber. BRABUS engineers likewise tweak the air suspension to lower it by 0.6 inches and 0.8 inches on the front and back respectively. Clients also get to enjoy more custom add-ons to the interior that meets their personal tastes.
