The team behind the adorable Birdie air purifier is back to change how we perceive the essential home appliance. The wall-mounted Birdie and its successor, the Birdie Pro, are smaller. But its newest sibling, the Birdie Podium, is larger and disguises itself as a pedestal or side table.

Some air purifiers look so utilitarian in their plastic shell that they can appear awkward or out of place in any interior design. Not this one, featuring a design “based on a simple philosophy: The best technology shouldn’t feel like tech at all. It should feel like home.” It combines both function and beauty with its Oak wood veneer frame.

The Birdie Podium brings Scandinavian beauty and warmth to a rather clinical sector, while fulfilling its primary duty. It operates quietly, drawing polluted air through intake vents, then passing it through a high-efficiency, multi-layer filtration system: a medical-grade HEPA-13 filter, an activated carbon filter, and a pre-filter. Then it circulates the purified air back into the room.

The HEPA-13 filter removes 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.3 microns. These include allergens like pollen, fine dust (PM2.5), mold spores, chemicals, and bacteria. Meanwhile, the pre-filter captures larger particles like pet dander, dust, and lint. Lastly, the activated carbon neutralizes smoke, harmful chemicals/VOCs, and household odors.

This elegant air purifier runs on WiFi for remote control. It also works with a companion app where you can adjust fan speed, sleep mode, and access historical air data. The team is working on making the Birdie Podium compatible with Home Assistant, Homey, and Apple Home for enhanced smart features.
